Vietnam to Host Slew of Events Celebrating Ties with S. Korea

Various events marking the 20th year of South Korea-Vietnam diplomatic relations will be held all across Vietnam in the coming months.

The South Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam says a Korean music festival marking the anniversary will open in Da Nang city on Saturday. The center said it hopes the festival will spread Korean pop culture known as the Korean Wave or Hallyu from the big cities to all over Vietnam.

Korean language departments of 20 universities in Vietnam will also hold a joint festival October 20th and the 21st to promote the Korean tongue with some two thousand students attending.

Korean soprano Jo Sumi will also perform October 27th in Hanoi.

A festival of Korean food culture hosted by the South Korean embassy and other agencies will open in Hanoi November third, while a film festival featuring a dozen Korean films opens in the capital Hanoi and in Ho Chi Minh City.
