China Pressures Japan over Territorial Row

China continues to pressure Japan over an escalating territorial dispute the two nations are engaged in over a group of islands in the East Sea.

In its latest move, China has canceled a ceremony that was to celebrate 40 years of normalized diplomatic relations between the two countries.

China will deploy mid-range ballistic missiles to Fujian Province to bring the disputed islands, known as Diaoyu in Chinese and Senkaku in Japanese, within range. China will also deploy unmanned reconnaissance planes and monitor the island and areas of territorial disputes via satellite.

Meanwhile, Japan has also disclosed to media joint island defense drills held in Guam between the U.S. Marine Corps and its Ground Self-Defense Forces.
