Avalanche Kills 10 Climbers on Mt. Manaslu

An avalanche has killed ten German and Nepalese climbers and wounded 18 others on Mount Manaslu in the Himalayas.

Nepalese police said that on Saturday night, a massive snow slide hit a camp seven-thousand meters above the sea where about 30 mountaineers from Germany, France and Italy were sleeping.

Some of the wounded were moved to hospitals for medical treatment, but others were left at the camp since poor weather conditions kept helicopters from reaching them.

Local police are trying to confirm the identities of the dead and the exact number of people on the expedition.
