South Korea and China’s foreign ministers held an emergency meeting in New York on Monday.

Foreign Minister Kim Sung-hwan and Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi, who are both in New York for the UN General Assembly, talked about conflicts over territories in Northeast Asia and Japan’s distorted view of history.

Both ministers agreed on the need to jointly counter Japan’s warped view of the past at the UN.

Kim and Yang said they would decide on what substantial measures to take after reviewing a speech Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda will give at the UN General Assembly on Wednesday.
