Chinese Media: US Moves to Intervene in China-Japan Territorial Row

Chinese media report that the U.S. is moving to intervene in a territorial dispute between China and Japan over a group of islands in the East China Sea.

A Chinese newspaper reported that the U.S. Navy recently sent more nuclear aircraft carriers to Guam in the Western Pacific region. The daily also said that the U.S. plans to soon hold a drill with two aircraft carriers.

Quoting military experts, Chinese media reported that it is unusual for the U.S. to simultaneously operate two aircraft carriers in a certain region. They interpreted Washington's action as a move to prevent a clash between China and Japan over the islands, known as Senkaku in Japanese and Diaoyu in Chinese.
