S. Korea, US, Japan FMs to Meet Friday

The foreign ministers of South Korea, the United States and Japan will hold a meeting in New York on Friday.

Foreign Minister Kim Sung-hwan, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Japanese Foreign Minister Koichiro Gemba will discuss issues of mutual concern on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

The trilateral meeting, which was organized by the U.S., is expected to center on issues concerning the Korean Peninsula, including North Korea’s nuclear issue, ways to boost cooperation among the three countries, and key regional issues.

Attention is being drawn to whether Clinton issues any remarks regarding the conflict between South Korea and Japan over the Dokdo islets in the East Sea.

The U.S. government has continuously taken on a neutral stance on the matter.
