A love affair between a 30-year-old teacher and a 15-year-old student from the U.K. has caught the attention of international media following the couples apparent disappearance into France.

British media say that math teacher Jeremy Forrest, who is married, and student Megan Stammers went missing after taking a ferry to France on September 20th.

British police have issued a Europe-wide arrest warrant for Forrest, but French prosecutors say that it will be difficult to arrest him since he's done nothing unlawful.

In Britain, harsh punishment is handed down for love affairs between teachers and students, especially when the student is under 16. In France an adolescent aged 15 or over is free to date anyone without parental consent.
