US Agency Tagged Dokdo as S.Korean Territory in 1993

A Web site of global geographical names shows that the U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) recognized the Dokdo islets as South Korean territory in 1993.

According to the site, "Geographic", the U.S. military intelligence agency described Hornet Islands as South Korean territory in the revision dated December 22nd, 1993. Hornet Islands is an English geographical name for the Dokdo islets.

The site said that the geographical name data was supplied by the U.S. military intelligence agency.

However, the site revised the data about a month later, saying Dokdo belongs to no country under international law, citing the U.S. agency.

In its revision on February fifth, 1994, the site also said Liancourt Rocks, a French name for Dokdo, belongs to open waters.
