China's official Xinhua News reports that nearly 800 people died in car accidents in China during the National Day holiday period last week.

Xinhua said that 68-thousand traffic accidents occurred across China last week, killing 790 people and injuring two-thousand-400 others.

However, the number of deaths and injuries from holiday car accidents has dropped nearly 50 percent from the same period last year.
