UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon says the global popularity of South Korean singer PSY’s music video “Ganganm Style” is surprising, and he is proud of it.

During a visit to France, Ban told AFP on Tuesday, local time, that he has watched the music video several times.

He explained that languages are unnecessary in the world of music, a testament to the power of music. Ban added that people can come to better understand other countries’ cultures through arts.

Over 400 million people have watched “Gangnam Style” around the world on YouTube.
