Pirates Free Greek Oil Tanker

International news outlets report that pirates have released a Greek oil tanker they hijacked off the coast of Cote d’Ivoire on October sixth.

AFP said the pirates stole 32-thousand tons of fuel from the Greek-owned and Bahamas-flagged tanker before freeing it and its 24-member crew on Tuesday.

The tanker's crew of two Greeks and 22 Filipino people are said to be in good health.

The International Maritime Bureau cautioned ships to take extra care for their safety when sailing through the pirate-infested Gulf of Guinea in West Africa, noting an increasing number of hijackings in the region.
