US Deputy Secretary of State to Visit Japan, S. Korea, China

U.S. Deputy Secretary of State William Burns is set to visit Japan, Korea, China, Myanmar and India.

State Department Spokeswoman Victoria Nuland told reporters on Thursday that Burns will depart Washington on Saturday. He will spend two days in Japan before arriving in Seoul Tuesday to meet with senior government officials.

Burns will also represent the U.S. at the U.S.-South Korea Strategic Dialogue that will be held on Tuesday. During the meeting, Burns and First Vice Foreign Minister Ahn Ho-young will share views on advancing the South Korea-U.S. alliance and addressing regional issues, including matters related to North Korea.
