Last Statue of Lenin Removed from Mongolian Capital

BBC News reports that the last bronze statue of Bolshevik revolutionary Vladimir Lenin has been removed from the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar.

The monument was brought down from its stand in a park in the Mongolian capital on Sunday with some 300 people in presence, including Ulaanbaatar Mayor Erdene Bat-Uul.

The mayor called Lenin and his colleagues murderers. He said that Mongolia has achieved a transition from a communist country to an open society.

The statue will be put up for auction.
