Japanese People Dining in Shanghai Assaulted

Japanese media say a group of Japanese people was assaulted at a restaurant in Shanghai by a Chinese person last week.

The Japanese Consulate General in Shanghai said on Tuesday that four Japanese people and their Chinese colleague were having dinner at a restaurant Thursday when they got into a scuffle with a Chinese man. Three people were injured in the brawl.

Japanese media say the Chinese attacker suddenly asked if they were Japanese and wielded a weapon.

A similar incident took place about a month ago. Local police reportedly arrested several suspects including the alleged Chinese attacker.
