A wooden boat carrying around 160 people capsized in waters near the Gulf of Guinea in Africa, killing at least 45.

The boat left Oron, Nigeria on Friday local time, sailing across the Gulf of Guinea heading towards Gabon.

The accident took place around 70 kilometers off the coast, with most of those on board being traders.

Back in 2008, a boat heading from Nigeria to Gabon sunk off the coast of Cameroon, killing 35 people on board.
