Britain: Hanging is the Cause of Exiled Russian’s Death

British police say that strangulation is the cause of the death of exiled Russian oligarch Boris Berezovsky. He was found dead on Saturday at his home in Ascot, Britain.

Local police said that Berezovsky’s injuries are consistent with hanging, quoting the results of a postmortem examination led by the Home Office on Monday, local time.

They added that the autopsy found no signs of violent struggle. But they have not concluded that the Russian committed suicide.

British police are planning to conduct further tests, including toxicology and histology, on Berezovsky’s body.

Berezovski was a Russian business oligarch and a government official. After clashing with President Vladimir Putin, he left Russia and moved to Britain, which granted him political asylum in 2003.
