US: N. Korea Will Achieve Nothing by Threats or Provocations

The United States has stressed that North Korea will achieve nothing by threats or provocations.

The State Department's Acting Deputy Spokesperson Patrick Ventrell told reporters Tuesday that the U.S. wants “the North Korean leadership to heed President Obama’s call to choose the path of peace” and comply with its international obligations.

Ventrell made the statement after being asked to comment on North Korea putting its military and strategic rocket units on a war footing, specifically with threats on striking at the U.S. mainland, Hawaii, and Guam.

Pentagon Press Secretary George Little also said the U.S. considers the North’s various threats a serious matter. He urged Pyongyang to suspend threatening acts.
