Newsweek to Put an End to Print Edition

U.S. weekly news magazine Newsweek has announced it will end its print edition at the end of the year as it struggles from serious financial difficulties.

AP reported that Newsweek will cease its print edition after 80 years and move to an all-digital format, which will lead to an overall structural reform at the company.

After running its final edition on December 31st, the weekly will start charging people to read its online edition “Newsweek Global.”

Newsweek was first published by British media outlet Thomas Martin in February 1933 and was considered one of the United States’ top three weekly magazines through its heyday in the 1990s. However, the publication is struggling under a financial crunch amid declining readership due to the Internet.
