Presidential Office Welcomes S. Korea's Selection as UNSC Member

The Presidential office said that South Korea becoming a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council (UNSC) is a fruit bore by the nation's diplomatic capacity strengthened through hosting global events such as the G20 Summit and the Nuclear Security Summit.

Presidential office spokesman Park Jung-ha said that South Korea winning a nonpermanent member seat at the UNSC for the second time reflects the country's enhanced global status.

Park said South Korea will take this as an opportunity to cement peace on the Korean peninsula and contribute to the nation’s strength to maintain international peace and security.
