National People's Congress Discusses Expulsion of Bo Xilai

The Standing Committee of China’s National People's Congress is discussing whether to expel disgraced politician Bo Xilai from parliament, a move that would deny him immunity from being prosecuted over bribery allegations.

The committee opened a four-day general meeting on Tuesday to address Chongqing City's proposal to strip former Chongqing Party chief Bo of his membership in parliament.

On September 29th, the standing committee of the Chongqing People’s Congress proposed that the National People’s Congress expel Bo.

Indicting the ousted political heavyweight on criminal charges will be possible if Bo doesn't have congressional immunity.
