The removal of former Politburo member Bo Xilai from China’s National People’s Congress is expected to accelerate prosecution of the Chinese politician.

The Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) removed Bo from his post as a representative and stripped him of his legal immunity.

This is expected to speed up the process of his prosecution and following judicial procedures.

Bo was interrogated after he was arrested during the NPC’s third meeting in March. An investigation into his corrupt activities was triggered after conflicts surfaced between him and former Chongqing police chief Wang Lijun.
