US Commercial Cargo Spacecraft Completes First Mission

A U.S. commercial cargo spacecraft has successfully completed its mission of delivering 450 kilograms of freight to the International Space Station.

The cargo spacecraft “Dragon” was blasted off by California-based civilian aerospace company SpaceX on October seventh. The company said that Dragon returned to the earth and landed in the Pacific Ocean at 4:22 a.m. Monday with 758 kilograms of science experiments and gear on board.

The cargo spacecraft was developed to replace a National Aeronautics and Space Administration space shuttle that will be decommissioned next year.

SpaceX will use Dragon 12 times to send supplies to the International Space Station on a one-point-six billion U.S. dollar contract with NASA.
