Korean Language Studies to Become an Option for Indonesian Students

Indonesian students attending technical high schools will be able to choose Korean as a second language to study from the second half of next year.

Indonesia’s Ministry of Education and Culture said that many Korean companies doing business with Indonesia want young Indonesian employees who can speak Korean. The ministry expects that the inclusion of Korean as a secondary language option will further increase the number of students who learn it. Currently, Chinese and Japanese are the most studied languages by Indonesian students.

National and public schools in Indonesia can open courses on foreign languages that are designated by the Ministry of Education and Culture as optional subjects.
