South Korean fishermen in the Yellow Sea are calling for measures against Chinese fishing boats’ illegal activities in Korean waters.

An association of Yellow Sea fishermen held a news conference Thursday in front of the Chinese Embassy in Seoul denouncing the Chinese fishermen for devastating fishing grounds through reckless fishing and plundering fishing gear in Korean waters.

The association said the illegal activities are incurring annual losses worth tens of billions of won. It called on the South Korean government to draw up practical response measures, such as strengthening crackdowns on Chinese fishing boats.
