PM to Attend 9th ASEM in Laos

Prime Minister Kim Hwang-sik will attend the 9th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) to be held in Vientiane, Laos for two days starting next Monday.

The summit meeting, held under the theme “Friends for Peace, Partners for Prosperity,” will be attended by 49 leaders from Asian and European nations, including Kim and two representatives from regional consultative groups.

The prime minister will deliver a speech during the first session on the first day of the meeting, in which he will introduce South Korea’s green growth policies and efforts, such as the launch of the Global Green Growth Institute and its hosting of the Green Climate Fund secretariat. He will also call for support from other Asian and European countries.

During his speech in the second session on the second day of the meeting, he will explain the significance of the Busan Global Partnership which was adopted as a new development cooperation paradigm during the Busan High-Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness last year.
