A food culture festival introducing Korean and Vietnamese food and ingredients ended in Vietnam on Sunday after a successful run and some 70-thousand visitors.
The event was hosted by a Korea agro-fisheries trade agency and sponsored by the South Korean Embassy in Hanoi.
Some 40 companies from both countries including Vietnamese fruit exporters took part in the event.
Particularly popular were Korean food booths including a kimchi experience hall and booths set by the Korea Tourism Organization and individual Korean companies. High visitor numbers showcased keen interest in Korean cuisine and culture.
A Korean embassy official says that owing to the Korean Wave pop culture phenomenon, some Korean foods including the seasoned rice cake dish ddeokbokki and the rice roll gimbab are already popularized in Vietnam. He says the culinary Korean Wave is spreading among the young Vietnamese and demand for Korean food is expected to rise higher.
