DPJ to Apologize for Failure to Keep Campaign Promise

The Democratic Party of Japan will apologize for failing to keep a campaign promise it made during the 2009 general elections.

Japanese daily the Yomiuri Shimbun reported that the Democratic Party of Japan finalized an apology Tuesday for miscalculating tax revenue and budget expenditures in line with its pledge to set aside a huge welfare budget.

In 2009, the party promised to secure a budget of 16-point-eight trillion yen for welfare projects.
