S.Korea, US to Launch Consultation Channel Early Next Year

South Korea and the United States are expected to activate a consultations channel next year for the discussion of Korean Peninsula issues.

A source in Washington said Wednesday that U.S. policies regarding the Korean Peninsula have secured continuity with President Barack Obama elected to a second term on Tuesday.

The source said that early next year, both Seoul and Washington will launch new administrations, creating a need to coordinate policies in a timely manner. The source said key topics of consultations would include bilateral security issues and movements in North Korea.
