N. Korea Trying to Draw More Foreign Tourists

North Korea is apparently working hard to attract more foreign tourists.

Sources familiar with North Korean affairs said Pyongyang sent the head of its General Bureau of Tourism, Kim To-jun, to Beijing, Shanghai and Shaanxi Province on a tourism promotion mission.

Kim asked local government officials to send more Chinese tourists to North Korea with a travel season beginning next month. He also discussed increasing flights of chartered plane flights between Pyongyang and Chinese cities.

Tourism is one of North Korea’s major sources to earn foreign currencies.
