The latest strain of avian influenza (AI) is spreading fast in China.

In the past two days, infections were confirmed for the first time in capital Beijing and also Henan Province in the central region.

The number of AI patients in China has reached 60 in total, 13 of which have died.

The virus appears to be quickly spreading from southeastern China to the mid-north.

A suspected case of an infection between people is also reported in Shanghai.

A husband contracted the flu after his wife was first infected but Shanghai authorities deny it's a case of human to human infection.
