Samsung Electronics has ranked 20th on Forbes list of the world’s biggest public companies.

Samsung climbed from its ranking of 26th last year, and accompanied 65 other South Korean firms on this year’s Forbes Global 2000 list. Hyundai Motor placed 89th, POSCO 184th, Shinhan Financial Group 251st and Kia Motors 268th.

Companies are evaluated based on their sales, net profit, assets and market value.

The U.S. had the biggest presence on the list with 543 companies, followed by Japan with 251 firms and Japan at 136.

Chinese bank ICBC topped the list followed by another Chinese bank, China Construction Bank.
