London Marathon to Strengthen Security

Security will be beefed up at the London Marathon scheduled on Sunday following the bombings earlier this week at the Boston Marathon.

Britain’s Home Secretary Teresa May announced at the House of Commons that the country will dispatch more police on site to boost security at the London Marathon.

May said that although safety measures at the London Marathon are time-tested, additional measures will still be taken.

Around 37 athletes and 650-thousand visitors are expected to take part in the marathon, which will wind past famous landmarks such as Big Ben. The finish line is located near Buckingham Palace.
