China, US Top Nuke Negotiators Discuss N. Korea's Nuke Issue

The top nuclear negotiators of China and the United States have discussed North Korea’s nuclear issue and other pending issues regarding the Korean Peninsula.

China’s chief delegate to the six-way nuclear talks, Wu Dawei, and U.S. Special Envoy for North Korea Policy, Glyn Davies, met in Washington on Monday and shared information on the latest situation regarding the North.

During the talks, Wu sounded out the possibility of swiftly resuming the stalled six-nation nuclear talks in order to ease tensions on the Korean Peninsula. Davies underlined that as a condition for talks the North’s sincere willingness to denuclearize must be confirmed.

Wu will stay in Washington until Wednesday and meet Acting Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, Joseph Yun, and Under Secretary for Political Affairs, Wendy Sherman.
