U.S. President Barack Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping have agreed their countries will not recognize North Korea as a nuclear state.

Obama and Xi found common ground on the North's nuclear issue during summit talks last Friday and Saturday in Rancho Mirage, California.

U.S. National Security Advisor Tom Donilon said that the two leaders agreed the North has to denuclearize and their countries will not accept a nuclear-armed North Korea.

Obama and Xi also agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation and dialogue to achieve the North's denuclearization as well as to take substantial measures to block the North’s proliferation capabilities.

Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi confirmed that China and the U.S are on the same page in their positions and objectives concerning the North Korean nuclear issue.
