Former President Lee Myung-bak has been sentenced to 15 years in prison and a fine of 13 billion won. 

The Seoul Central District Court handed down the verdict to the ex-president on Friday, finding him guilty on charges including bribery and embezzlement.

He was also determined to be the real owner of his brother's auto parts company, DAS.

Lee did not attend the sentencing, due to health problems and discontent over the court's decision to allow the hearing to be broadcast live, according to his legal team.

Prosecutors had demanded a 20-year prison term for Lee, with a 15 billion won fine.
