First and second graders and kindergartners in Seoul will be able to attend school everyday when the new school year begins in March.

The decision was announced on Wednesday by the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education.

Under the principle of not delaying the start of the school year, the lower-grade students will be allowed to participate in in-class learning every weekday when the nation is under Level Two social distancing or below.

Officials also extended the eligibility for schools' autonomous decision on classroom density up to Level Two-point-Five, to include schools with 300 to 400 students that have an average class size of less than 25 students.

When face-to-face and online learning are conducted at the same time, after school programs will be offered in adherence to density regulations.
