Starting the morning after the first broadcast date of June 30, 1983, all of Yeouido, where KBS is located, was swarmed with a sea of people trying to submit their applications for the program. People with lost relatives covered the walls of the KBS building with posters, and circled the building searching for any news of their family. Not only the walls of the KBS building, but the streets, Yeouido Plaza, and even the trees were covered with posters put up by people seeking their lost relatives.
At the studio, the hosts introduced applicants' cases and when a match was found, the two parties confirmed their relation via telephone or through TV screens. The entire process was broadcast live.
The program was covered extensively by the foreign media, including ABC of the US, NHK in Japan and the international news agency UPI.
