Seoul Olympic Games – Bringing Seoul to the World, and the World to Seoul

The 24th Olympic Games in Seoul
One hundred and fifty-nine countries around the world participated in the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, bringing athletes from the east and west together for the first time in 16 years. The 1988 Summer Olympic Games is considered to have quelled ideological conflicts of the east and the west, while establishing a new foundation for world peace through sports diplomacy. In addition, the Olympic Games helped Korea make a firm impression on the world through the display of Korea’s deep-rooted culture and traditions.
