On May 26, 1999, the first autonomously designed scientific experiment satellite Kitsat 3, nicknamed “Our Star” or Uribyol 3, successfully reached the orbit. South Korean scientists at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology’s Satellite Technology Research Center were at the helm during the entire process of over 4 years, from the blueprint to parts manufacturing and assembly.
