"All About Eve" is a romantic drama that aired on MBC in 2000. Starring Park Chae-rim and Kim So-Yeon as the two female leads, Jin Sun-mi and Heo Young-mi, the drama focuses on the professional and personal rivalry between these two beautiful TV reporters.
The rivalry between Sun-mi and Young-mi starts when Sun-mi’s wealthy widowed father takes in Young-mi, a poor girl with an alcoholic father and without a mother. From the start, Young-mi shows that her difficult childhood has not humbled her but has made her bitter and cold. She resents Sun-mi for the easy life she has led and this resentment stays with Young-mi even as they graduate university and enter the same company. Young-mi is manipulative and greedy, pretending to be kind and helpful while secretly attempting to sabotage Sun-mi’s happiness and claw her way to the top news anchor position at the network.
Knowing about Sun-mi’s affections for her childhood friend and co-worker, Woo-jin, Young-mi sets her sights on stealing his affections. Woo-jin falls for Young-mi and Sun-mi is deeply hurt. However, on a trip to London, Sun-mi meets Hyung-chul, a top executive at the network, played by Jang Dong-gun. The two connect instantly, but Sun-mi has a hard time forgetting about Woo-jin. Back in Korea, Young-mi then attempts to steal the affections of Hyung-chul away from Sun-mi. The women are in constant competition for the love of these men and professional success.
The story comes to a climax when Young-mi’s dark past comes to haunt her. And the drama continues…
