Nominees for Korean Music Awards 2004 Announced
The Korean Music Awards 2004, the Korean equivalent of the American Grammys, announced the list of its nominees on Feb 28th. Jointly hosted by the Center for Culture and Society and Munhwa Ilbo Daily, the event is divided into 14 categories, including “Album of the Year,” “Song of the Year,” “Best New Artist,” and categories for different genres. The nominees for “Album of the Year” include Asoto Union, Loveholic, and Big Mama. The three groups are also nominated in 3 other categories, too. The-the, Deli Spice and Yoongeoni were nominated for “Song of the Year” while Hwisung, Lee Seung-yeol and Jeong Jae-il were nominated in 2 categories. However, Lee Hyo-lee, the winner of most music awards given by 3 local major broadcasters late last year, has not been nominated in any category. Beginning on March 2nd, the music awards judging committee opened up netizen voting on their web site(www.kma2004.org) and the results will reflect about 20% of the final results. The awards ceremony will take place at Sungkyunkwan University’s 600th Anniversary Building on March 17.
