Song was one of the hottest idol stars in the early 1970s with a huge following of female fans. He swept three of the prestigious music industry awards in 1976 with the perennial favorite “A Day of Sunshine.” At the height of his career he left for the U.S. and a 10-year hiatus followed. However, he came roaring back with “I Am Alone,” followed by such long-lasting hits like “Our Suni,” “A Ticket,” and “Your Home South.” One of his greatest hits, “Four Beats,” was chosen as the Koreans’ favorite traditional pop song. His popularity knows no bounds as all of his concerts and dinner shows are constant sell-outs. Song is truly the reigning king of the Korean traditional pop music.
