Foreign Beauties Try Their Luck in Singing
Members of global talk show “Talk with Beauties (Misuda)” on KBS are capitalizing on their popularity and entering the Korean show business. The first one to have jumped into the fiercely competitive world of entertainment was Djamilya Abdullaeva, an Uzbek model, who gained a huge male following after her appearance on the talk show late last year. She released a digital single titled “I Hate You (Oppa Miwo)” earlier this year and is currently appearing on a cable TV series. While her sultry and provocative appearance appealed to the male audience, her lack of Korean proficiency and excessive focus on sexuality was roundly criticized by women viewers and the broadcasting watchdog.

The second Misuda member-turned-singer Saori Jang, a third generation Korean-Japanese, has appeared on several variety shows since she left the talk program. Having made a mark in a corner titled “We Are Married,” Saori rolled out “Japanese Study Song,” a comic song composed of Japanese conversations, followed by a regular album on Tuesday. She is determined to make it as a singer and currently training hard with a band.

Eva Popiel, British national born between Polish father and Japanese mother, has already played a supporting role in daily soap opera “I Hate You, but It’s Fine.” She is currently recording her first single album, which is to be marketed in early June at the latest.

Their fans and critics alike are waiting to see whether the singing careers of these three foreign beauties will take off and bring them the popularity they enjoyed on the talk show.
