Part 32: Seo Taiji and Boys Revolutionizes Korean Pop Music
Seo Taiji and Boys revolutionized Korean pop music by introducing a new genre of rap imbued with social messages. Their resistance to and criticism of conventional social order appealed to Korean teenagers crushed under heavy educational pressure. Backed by the unwavering support and love from their young fans, Seo Taiji and Boys became an icon for the 1990s' culture and young generation. Although they went their separate ways in 1996, just four years since their debut, they left social and cultural legacies that will long be remembered in Korean society.
