왜 그래? (What’s wrong?)

왜 – (adv.) why, how come, what for etc.

For what reason; how come

그래 – an abbreviated word for [그러하여] a conjugated form of [그러하다] meaning ‘be so’

Casual – 왜 그래?

Semi-polite – 왜 그래요?

Polite – 왜 그러세요? 

>>[왜 그래] literally means “why is it so?” or “why are you (doing) that?” or “why are you (acting) like that”.

>>The expression can be used in a variety of situations to ask someone what is wrong or what is the matter.  

>>In the dialogue, Song Geu-rim comes in talking about the legendary producer but doesn’t know what’s going on in the room. She notices something wrong and asks, “what’s wrong” or “what’s going on?”
