Suits for Fall 2016

2016-09-06

Fall is in the air and it’s time for a style update! Today I’m going to introduce tips on how to wear the suit—a super hot trend making its way from summer to fall fashions.

● Trend #1: The mannish suits
The mannish suit trend is back for fall. One of the key trends seen on the catwalks for Fall/Winter 2016 is the androgynous trend that’s been around for several seasons. Characterized by looser, effortless fits, suits this season are also getting the ever so chic androgynous treatment. To channel the androgynous vibe without looking overdone, opt for a well-tailored mannish suit (loose enough to de-emphasize your figure) in classic colors such as beige, white, black, or grey. Continuing from the last season, the 90’s-inspired “matching set look” is still “in.” To wear the trend, do opt for the same color blazer and pants such as all-white, all-black, or all beige—all of which never go out of style. Embrace the oversized fit that lends a comfortable, relaxed vibe as if you borrowed the suit from your boyfriend’s closet and do choose blazers one or two sizes bigger than your normal size.

● Trend #2: Pinstripe suiting
Secondly, pinstripe suits are extremely hot at the moment. A chic trend anyone could wear, cool pinstripes in navys, blacks, and greys dominated the Fall/Winter 2016 runways. To update your office look, switch out your everyday solid-colored suit for a chic pinstripe suit and add a bit of pizzazz to your daily armor. The good thing about pinstripes is that they slim and lengthen every body type. While at the office, go for the menswear vibe and opt for a matching navy-colored pinstripe suit—definitely one of the most classy combinations when it comes to business attire. As for the style of the pants, you can either go for tailored, cropped styles or loose, wide-legged ones. Complete the outfit with a pair of black pumps and layered gold necklaces and rings, and you have a chic look.

● Trend #3: Miniskirt suits
Lastly, miniskirt suits are all the rage right now. Many of the industry’s top designers are offering up a 2016 take on the trend and have sent models down the catwalk wearing the 90’s-inspired miniskirt suits. For casual outings, ditch your usual LBD (little black dress) and opt for an adorable miniskirt suit featuring polished patterns like plaids, pinstripes or paisley. Play with rich textures such as suede or velvet and bring a little fall into your wardrobe.

Wear more suits and stay smart this fall!
