The 49th Annual Baeksang Arts Awards for 2013 was held on May 9th at the Peace Auditorium in Kyunghee University located in Seoul. Many top stars walked down the red carpet, including Ahn Sung-gi, Ryu Seung-ryong, Kim Min-hee, Yoo Jae-suk, Park Yoo-chun, Song Joong-ki, Park Shin-hye, Kim Bum, Kim Woo-bin, and Suzy. The Baeksang Arts Awards first started in 1965 and has grown to become a comprehensive awards show that covers TV and films, evaluating and awarding artists for their performances. The awards seeks to help improve the quality of art and pop culture through balanced development.

This year, actors Kim Ah-joong, Joo-won, and broadcaster Oh Sang-jin were the emcees. SISTAR and The One sung for the congratulatory performances. The top Grand Award for the movie sector went to Ryu Seung-ryong for the movie "Miracle In Cell #7", and Yoo Jae-suk for the TV sector.
