Teaching American Teachers about Korea

2010-08-13

My guests this week are Dr. Agnes Ahn, Sheila Jaung and Professor Kim Minjeong of the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. The three women came together after a controversial book convinced them that teacher education about Korean history and culture was necessary in Boston, Massachusetts-area schools.

In our interview, we discuss what happened as they worked to remove the book from their childrens’ middle school English curriculum, and who they’ve partnered with to raise awareness of South Korea as an excellent teachable resource for American children.
