Ngugi Wa Thiong’o, Winner of 6th Pak Kyong-ni Prize

Kenyan writer and this year’s winner of the prestigious Pak Kyong-ni Prize Ngugi wa Thiong’o has come to speak to KBS WORLD Radio listeners. Currently, he is a Distinguished Professor of English and Comparative Literature at the University of California, Irvine, and is often regarded as a likely candidate for the Nobel Prize in Literature.

His works have been translated into more than 30 different languages and Korean readers may be familiar with his works such as “Weep Not, Child”, “A Grain of Wheat” and “Petals of Blood”. And the latest edition of Touch Base in Seoul delves into his literary works and his passion for literature.
