Indie bands are considered underground or fringe musicians in Korea. Indie bands needed 20 years of time to earn public recognition. Last year indie bands marked the 20th anniversary of their rise and went through the rite of adulthood. The person who organized and publicized the indie musicians’ rite of passage was Kim Woong, the current CEO of album production company MOSSPIT and godfather to the first generation of Korean indie bands. He has promoted Korea's indie bands for the past two decades, organizing concerts and producing albums for unknown indie bands and bringing indie band music closer to the general public. Kim Woong has no regrets over the past two decades devoted to music. Although the emergence of music streaming sites made the album production business go downhill, Kim still loves indie music and the time he spent promoting indie bands. He will continue for another 20 years doing his best for the beloved indie bands.
